I love proverbs – little bits of wisdom contained in short sayings that give real guidance . I came to love them while raising my children. It was impossible for me to stand next to them all the time with advice, but I could give them words that would stand in my place. When my son’s friends pushed him to stay out past curfew, a handy dandy proverb whispered in his ear and helped him through (think for yourself – if you don’t sell your head, nobody can buy it).
I share these proverbs with you here, some of my favorites that have washed in with the tide of African wisdom. May they whisper in your ear and help you through.
